The village of Mochlos and the island in front of it are located between Agios Nikolaos and Sitia. In Minoan times, the island was joined to the mainland and had harbours both on the east and west coast.. Extensive Minoan remains are to be found both on the island of Mochlos itself and in the area around the village of Mochlos.
