Sougia in south - western Crete. Sougia is a few km east of Palaiochora and it is a quiet and relaxed place with a great sandy beach.

Omalos plateau and the Gorge of Agia Eirini. It takes 4-5 hours to walk from the beginning of the gorge to Sougia. It is also very convenient to visit the Samaria Gorge from Sougia. You can take the early-morning bus from Sougia to Omalos, walk the gorge of Samaria and then take the late afternoon ferry from Agia Roumeli back to Sougia.
