I have stood in this place and felt such a sadness for life lost - but grateful to the people of crete who honour the fallen. It puts many of our own burial grounds to shame in the UK. These people fell to help a country under oppression and the people of Crete have never forgotten. I have stood and read some of the names of Polish, Canadian, Australian and British forces some only boys - who had their lives cut short - but who believed in the right of freedom. Let us not forget those who have fallen since in the same cause in the Gulf and Iraq.......they also gave up life for freedom and will they be as honoured ???? I hope we serve them as fairly as the Cretian people serve and care for our fallen men and boys who gave their lives to help Crete stay free. Thank you People Of Creta For The Honour You Give Our Fallen Souls Of War

Have you seen also in the entire Crete all those little plots of land with the two flags, Greek and British, or american or Australian...It is as many men died there....Nothing on, only memories...I just had need to cry....
