It is not typical..it means that someone in their family died. The wear black for 1 year.

robert.4ur information if it is a close member of our familly we wear black for at least 5 years.we dont eat meat for 60 days

we dont cut our hair for one year. and once u wear black u never take them off cause we have big families and that is a way to show respect

and if u have a chance take a look at our traditional clothes. men have black shirts and they wear a mantila on their head BLACK with tears.
