Sfakia is an area in the south-west of Crete at the Chania Prefecture consisted of a cluster of villages. Sfakia are centered around the "Lefka Ori" mountain range that remain the most wild and unspoiled landscape in Crete.
Chora Sfakion is the capital of the area offering hotels, apartments, restaurants serving local dishes, shops and cafe's. In Sfakia area you will enjoy swimming in many lovely beaches. The many gorges and well-maintained paths in this area make it ideal for those who enjoy hiking.
From the small port of Chora Sfakion there are ferry boats to the other seaside villages of the Sfakia area as they are impossible to be reached otherwise because the many mountains in the area do not allow the construction of a coastal road.
Chora Sfakion can be reached by frequent bus services from Chania, Rethymnon and Heraklion
