A video of the Samaria gorge showing the most famous spots of the gorge while hikers are walking in it. The descend starts at Xiloskalo in the Plateau of Omalos, 1280 metres above sea level. The path with the steps will take you deep down into the gorge and you will walk in wooded areas with centuries-old trees. Take a rest at the abandoned village of Samaria and admire the wild goats called "kri-kri" that may come closer.

After the village, the path stops descending and you will walk along the Samaria river that flows year-round. The gorge ends 3 kms before the town of Agia Roumeli, where you will take the ferry to Chora Sfakion town.
