In Ierapetra you will find the “East" beach or beach of Agios Andreas, one of three inside the town itself. It is a fully organised municipal beach with all the facilities you could wish for.

The second beach is the South Beach of Ierapetra, next to the Kales Fortress. It, too, is organised, with cafeterias and canteens nearby, and offers a variety of watersports such as scuba diving and windsurfing, as well as beach-volley and paintball.

Lastly there is the West Beach of Ierapetra, in the heart of town, with its fine sand and deep-blue waters. This is the busiest beach in town.

Five km from Ierapetra is Koutsounari beach. This is a large beach with fine sand and relatively shallow water.
It’s not fully organised, which means that a large part has no beach umbrellas and loungers, but there are quite a few trees providing shade for bathers.

Ferma beach is 8 km east of Ierapetra. It’s a small cove with very clear water. Another semi-organised beach, set in a wonderful landscape.

Ten km east of Ierapetra is Agia Fotia, an inlet with fine sand and a rocky shore, which gets quite busy in the summer. There are umbrellas and loungers, as well as canteens selling snacks and refreshments.

West of Ierapetra, about 10 km away, is Myrtos beach, perhaps the most beautiful in the area. Its crystal-clear, aquamarine waters and sand-and-pebble beach make it particularly attractive.
Myrtos is suitable for families, being fully organised, and draws mainly European tourists. Though busy, it’s relatively peaceful.
