Crete is special to me because As well as having
a well deserved holiday after exams, I met some great people who I still
keep in touch with even now.
Favourite restaurants in Crete: I stayed in Koutouloufari
for two weeks, during this time I tried three or four of the restaurants
around my hotel. All were great: well priced fresh food with friendly
service.
Favourite accommodation in Crete: In October I am
due to stay in Koutouloufari in the Stalis Appartments- any comments?
Favourite beach in Crete: Hersonnissos - although
I\'m more of a swimmming pool person than beach!
You have to see in Crete: If you have the opportunity to visit
Santorini I would strongly recommend that you do so. Although the ferry
ride over there takes a good couple of hours (if I remember correctly)
the views and atmosphere of such a beautiful island are not to be missed.
*** Not such a good idea though for people with mobility problems or young
children.
Night Life in Crete: When I last visited Crete I
wasnt particularly a clubby person, although I am visiting Koutouloufari
this September with a friend and would appreciate any recomendations of
slightly smaller, more personal bars... Please forward me any suggestions
:)
Off the beaten path in Crete: I enjoyed walking around
the villages to get a real sense of what was going on.
When in Crete be careful about The sun: drink plenty
of bottled water. Also look after your skin- any sun burn will be very
unpleasant.
Transportation: During my stay we used taxis and
a few coaches. I would recommend either of these as the service was reliable
and friendly.
Cultural Tips:Learn abit of the language, always
goes down well if you make the effort.
Extra Notes: If there are any regular visiters to
Koutouloufari out there. I would appreciate any comments- has it changed
at all? Which are still good restaurants to go to?
