Reviews of High Beach Hotel in
Malia, Crete
Hotel High Beach Review by Laura Robinson (UK) - Rating 10/10
I've just returned from Malia in Crete after a weeks holiday 14th August - 21st August. I went with 3 other girls all aged 17. It was definitely one of the best weeks of my life!!! To start with the review of the High Beach Hotel in Malia, we were disappointed as we were given the wrong room but it was soon sorted out and were given free meals for 2 days to compensate. New room (1 bedroom apt, beds 4) very tidy, not too big but livable for the time we spent in the apartment. Both pools good sizes always free sunbeds which was very good.
Shop situated in hotel grounds very handy for essentials (food/drink/suncream etc). Hotel front onto beach also very handy, and always spare sunbeds and umbrellas. Very nice breeze on the beach. Beach bars very good food and good priced too. 2 minute walk to the centre for shops, restaurants, Bars and clubs. (save money on taxis). But I must say Malia is all about the nightlife. It is GREAT!!!! The 'strip' is the place to be with endless number of bars and clubs with great offers on drinks (most free entry). Banana Bar, Zig Zag, Yasou are 3 of the best places!! Anyone going, have a fab time which I'm certain you will!! xxx

For the High Beach Hotel in Malia I was expecting the worst ever, but it is really clean and ideal for a week or two away... went self catering. I have no complaints.... lets face it its clean as it can be... the 2 pools are clean ... security is high so very safe for young girls...
The beach is nice and the waves are wicked!! loved every minute of that holiday and I highly reccommend it ! ..people say that its bad ... its only bad if you make it bad WOMAN! so stop complaining ! I went away with 6 of us and none of us had a complain in the book ! GO!
Hotel High Beach in Malia Review by Alexander (Latvia) - Rating 01 / 10
Period of stay : September 17 - October 01, 2004 . Tour oprerator
Alfa Turs Riga Latvia (ex Alida Turs after split) via Novaturas Lithuania.
Hotel category as declared: 3 stars plus.
To be honest, Hotel High Beach in Malia turned out to be the worst hotel I've ever
stayed in Crete. Starting from its obscure location and impossibility
of coach delivery/pick up due to the narrow alley where it stands.
At least, the room was clean. And that's about it. Mixed personell,
including Ukranian chef and repatriates from Georgia who were complaining
all the time that they had to work real hard. Meals had nothing to
do with Cretan /Greek cuisine for the reason already mentioned. I
did not find a single olive served during my stay.
Reception was closed
most of the time. They refused to keep room key during daytime while
I was out saying they were only available when there was some arrivals
or departures. Promised entertainment never came.
Beach was very close to the hotel but it does not fall into my definition
of this word as it's all sunbeds and umbrellas and the sand was
polluted with stubs and plastic waste.
Accommmodation costs for
High Beach on HB basis is on the same level or even higher compared
with Blue Sea Bungalows in Stalis and I would rather take the latter.
My verdict is simple : High Beach Hotel to be avoided at all
times. It's a pure waste of time and money.
