If you want to spend good time in Greece, you should't go to Blue Dream Hotel. Its dirty place, swimmingpool is open 8-6 and staff is very very nasty.

Why on earth this place is getting 10/10's I do not know. The location is ok bit far away from the town although only 10 euros in a taxi. Our main disappointment was the attitude of the staff. We are a couple who like to try different restaurants every night and because of this we didn't get our sheets or towels changed for TWO weeks. We asked the maid to change them and her reply was "Litza told us not to do it as you dont drink or eat at the bar".

We were also made to feel unwelcome around the place. If you spend all your time at the apartments don't worry you'll be fine, you will be treated like royalty just don't stay here if you are out and about all the time. As for the rep, well talks a load of rubbish and fobs you off every time you talk to him. His local knowledge is awful.

If you want a nice relaxing holiday where you can get on with the hotel staff then give this place a miss. Beds dont get changed, dont get fresh towels, appartements not very clean and things go missing, extreemley basic facilities, if you complain to managment, then they call you a lier and make you feel seriously out of place. Lots more nicer and friendlier places in the same area which are also cheaper for food and drink.

I booked a last minute bargain holiday to Crete and was offered named accommodation at the Blue Dreams Apartments. Before arriving I was slightly skeptical as I knew the apartments were two star and other reviews on the Internet were not the best. But once I arrived I felt relieved, as the accommodation and pool was decent, clean and tidy.

The beach is literally 150 meters to the rear of the apartments, but this area is rocky,if you walk about 200-300 meters to the left there is a stretch of sandy beach with sun beds and canopies. You can also see the sunset from the apartments which is very romantic.

The family were very welcoming and attended to our every need (midnight snacks). They provided entertainment most nights of the week including, barbeque, quiz, karaoke, greek dancing and boat rides.

The bar is very pleasant and is open until the last person goes to bed. The bar and restaurant is slightly overpriced so I would recommend eating out as you get more for your money (kitchen facilities are very basic).

Although the location is quite a distance from Rethymnon City Center there are a small number of local restaurants and supermarkets nearby. There are also two other small areas nearby (Adele and P something) filled with restaurants and shops. We hired a car for half of the week and a scooter for the other half to get around, but there are also reasonably priced taxi's available as well as a frequent bus service. The apartments are based near the National Highway but noise and congestion are non existent.

Blue Dreams is ideal for couples who may be on a limited budget and want a relaxing holiday. During our stay there were two separate honeymoon couples ooohhhhh!!!!. I would recommend Blue Dreams as the Island of Crete is beautiful with so much to see and do. My only complaint is one week is not enough, go for two!!!!!.

We first visited George and Litsa nearly 5 years ago and found them to be charming and wonderful. Not only was it always clean, tidy but welcoming too. We have been back many times, and now feel like part of the family. We have watched Blue-Dreams grow from a small 'old' building and a bar that served as reception too, to a grand 'new' addition with sea views, separate reception, and after this winter who knows what George will have built!! We love the place and the people, Litsa had her 3rd child because her eldest two loved my baby!! that is the level of frienship that they have to offer ( though no-more babies!)

I can only recommend to you all to go visit them, good food, good weather, good drink, good people and above all a good time!!! If, I mean when, you come visit Blue Dreams come look us up. We like it so much, we've decided to emigrate there in spring 2005

Having read the previous reviews before arriving at Blue Dreams I was very disappointed with our stay there. Whilst I appreciate we were there the last two weeks of the season I hope that George and Litsa get around to some maintenance and decoration in the rooms before the next season. I found a broken shower, broken toilet seat, broken shelves, light bulbs that don’t work and unclean bed linen and towels to name but a few of the complaints not acceptable.

Just back from a 2 week stay in these delightful appartments. My room on the 3rd floor of the block next the coast was perfect and had a super sea view. This rear block does not have any road noise from the adjacent highway. The rooms are well appointed and I particularly liked that Litsa the owner had left tea & sugar out for late arrivals. The fridge was also stocked with essentials which you could pay for at a modest 10 E cost or not as you wished.
The pool and pool bar were both clean and Litsa or one of the family were always in attendance to cater for your every need. The Greek food served at the pool bar was excelent and it and the bar prices were very reasonable - I seldom eat or drank other than at the appartments. There is a nice beach very close by with turtle nests.
To summarise Blue Dreams was a great find, it is a family run small appartment complex where I have had a superb holiday. I will certainly be going back at least once next year.
NOTE. Horse riding at Zoraida in Georgioupolis is great fun and I highly recommend it

Blue Dream hotel is located in Stavromenos 12kms east of Rethymno.
The Blue Dreams Apts I found to have all that I required for a relaxing holiday. It is a bit off the beaten track but this is not much of a problem as taxis and the local bus are cheap (Get bus tickets from Mikes supermarket). The apts are situated near to the main highway which I found to be more of a plus than minus as you can get to anywhere on the island quite easily. In sept 2002 they were being run by Graham and Lorraine who were a lot of fun. They had a different theme most nights ie bbq, karaoke and a live guitarist. The pool tops it off as a lot of the apts in Stavromenos do not have one. A lovely sandy beach is a 10 min walk away and there are a few tavernas and bars within walking distance, there is a pool bar at the apts too. Visit Lucias restaurant for great pizzas etc., and the one opposite on the highway is fantastic for Cretan food, can' t remember the name though. All in all, my stay was very memorable and I was sad to leave.

The Blue Dreams Hotel is located in the Rethymnon outskirts, about 8 miles east of the town, on the coast.
The owners George and Litsa are there every day. You can eat fabulous food at good prices. If you ask in the morning they can provide almost any meal. They are very friendly and helpful.
It is a small place but well run. Each apartment is kept spotless--loo bins emptied every day. Pool clean. You can even have your meals and drinks put "on the slate" until the end of the holiday and pay at the end.
Litsa's family can provide tour guides, car hire at competitive prices. The beach near the hotel is stony, but a short walk brings a sandy beach with more bars and restaurants. The only down side is that is close the main road but after a few days you dont notice the rumble
