The Carnival Parade in Rethymnon is the biggest in Crete. It takes place 40 days before the Easter lent and it is a big event where local people and students take part. Thousands of people come to Rethymnon from all over Crete during that day, which is the last day of a festivity known in Greece as Apokries (the Carnival).
