About Milatos
Milatos village lies on the northern coast of Crete about 32kms west of Agios Nikolaos and about 36 kms east of Heraklion city in the prefecture of Lassithi. It is a quiet village with narrow streets and beautiful traditional houses. It has two distinct parts; one community along the shore and the other a little further inland, connected by a short road. The area fronting onto the sea has numerous taverns, apartments and other tourist facilities.
Today's visitor to Milatos will find a friendly welcome, good food and opportunities to relax and enjoy the stunning views and the waterfront. Also there is a famous site near Milatos to visit, the Milatos Cave, otherwise known as the Cave of Rapas.
Other places nearby and worth taking the time to explore, depending on your tastes, include the quiet resort of Sissi, the hedonistic and vibrant nightlife of Malia, the traditional town of Neapolis, the plethora of local villages and the prefecture capital Agios Nikolaos.
There is frequent bus service from Agios Nikolaos and Heraklion.
